Per-License Download Limits

Each license has a download cap: how many times the customer can download the protected app. PyLocket tracks real downloads against this cap and shows you the running count, so you can see usage and top up a customer who needs more.

Where to see it

In the Developer Portal, open the Licenses page. The Downloads column shows each license as used / limit, for example 2 / 5 ("2 of 5 used, 3 left"). The count reflects actual downloads across every delivery path the customer might use (the delivery page, a direct link, or a re-download).

Changing a license's limit

If a customer needs more downloads (a new laptop, a lost file, a reinstall), raise the cap:

  1. Go to Licenses and find the customer's license.
  2. Click the pencil icon on the Downloads column.
  3. Enter a new total (the minimum you can set is the number already used, so you never strand a license below its real usage).
  4. Save. The new total takes effect immediately.

Editing the limit is a Pro feature

Adjusting per-license download limits requires an active Pro subscription. On the free tier you can see the counts but not change them.

How the cap behaves for the customer

  • Each successful download increments the count.
  • When the customer reaches the cap, further download attempts are politely refused with a message to contact the seller.
  • Raising the cap restores their ability to download right away.

Downloads are counted, not activations. The download cap is about getting the app file onto the customer's machine; how many devices the app can run on is controlled separately by the device limit.
